I have found my Tokyowheel EPIC 5.6 wheelset to be everything, and more than advertised! They are strong, true, aerodynamic and fast. My only regret is not getting these wheels sooner!

Hi Lenny Sorry to hear one of your decals was damaged in transit. I reviewed our email logs to look into your case. TJ sent you two emails responding to your support query - on 20 June, and again on 28 June. He asked you a question in each email re your case, so that we could move the matter forward. Our email system indicates you opened both emails, but we didn't get a response to either. As we didn't hear back from you, we closed your case 3 weeks after initial contact. I see you sent us an email again yesterday so your case will be automatically re-opened. TJ or Kane will be in touch with you soon. It saddens me you leave us a 2 star review in this situation, but thanks for taking the time.

Great communication wonderful service and an amazing set of wheels. I'm faster on all my favourite rides. They hold there speed better than the shimano RS 80 wheels I had. I'm very happy with all aspects of my purchase.

A a fantastic set of lightweight wheels. The acceleration I achieve with these wheels is a marked improvement on my alloy wheels. They are 20% lighter, 15% more aerodynamic and the customer service I received from Tokyowheel was second to none. Many thanks.

I really didn't know what to expect at first but I thought I might as well give it a go. You never try, you never know. I needed a replacement for my tubulars as I wasn't too confident with them. Don't get me wrong they were fantastic wheels but at the back of my mind I had this fear that I'd get a flat. When you ride in the desert there are two things that are alway on your mind, running out of water and getting a flat tire. In comparisson to my tubulars, the weight difference was .....what weight difference? With the Epic 38 it was as smooth as butter. Because of the wider width of the rim (19mm I believe) the 25C tyres recomended felt like a 28C, in other words more comfortable. Phycologically, as an older rider, I didn't want to put pressure on myself by riding deep wheels so I purchased the Epic 38. However, don't be fooled by its looks, it may look tame, but really its a wolf in sheeps clothing. There is no way I can keep up with the younger guys, but with anybody my age, I just might have something up my sleeve with the Epic 38.......and "No", the guys at Tokyo Wheels didn't pay me to write this :)

Hi Zafrullah Thanks for the great review! You're right, it does sound like we wrote it. Riding in the dessert sounds pretty crazy too! Tubs = asking for trouble. We actually have 2 riders in their mid 80s - these guys are an inspiration to me & I often think of them when I'm sore from riding or feeling lazy. We tried to get some pics of them for the site last year but they weren't keen. They are doing big rides still too. This is a true all around wheels , fast & great on flat , handles the winds pretty well & no issues uphill even at 10% gradient & braking is really good considering I'm from Oman :flag-om: I rode at a hot 44c* .

I spend a bit of time in Asia and have been on the bike in 40 degrees + a few times and it wasn't very nice! Especially if the humidity is high. Really great to hear you're enjoying your cycling. I’ve been riding for over 40 years and must say that these are an exceptional pair of wheels. Beautiful workmanship and attention to detail. Fast. Light. Perfectly true and incredibly strong. Tracking straight and no flex whatsoever. Cornering is very predictable, no stress fluctuation to throw your line off. I am faster in all corners from wide sweeping to sharp off camber. And, customer service was absolutely exceptional. I enthusiastically recommend Tokyowheel and will not hesitate to purchase all my wheels from them in the future! Thanks James and crew!

I love my new Wheelset they're everything I expected them to be. The only problem I'm having is the decals are starting to peel off a little bit. You'll need to be very careful when cleaning them. I'm most happy with the customer service when my rims arrived and had them installed I took it for a ride and heard a pinging sound coming from the rear hub. I contacted Tokyo wheel and they went out of there way to help resolve the problem. I took to my LBS to find out what the problem was. It turned out to be a bad bearing in the free hub. Tokyo sent a new hub and paid for all repairs needed. Life is good now. These are well worth the $ The only reason I didn't give them a 5 is because of the decals I'm thinking I'm going to have to remove them sooner or later.

Steven, Thanks for the comments. If you continue to have an issue with the decal please send us an email and we will send you a new decal kit you can apply. With our new third gen wheelsets we have improved the decal application process and now bake them on. Thanks

Epic 5.6 Carbon Clincher Wheelset has performed brilliantly. Received compliments on look and performance from others riding on the big name wheelsets. Initial setup of breaks required a little fine tuning but once adjustments were made the wheels have performed flawlessly. Also would like to compliment the staff at Tokyowheel for their professionalism and making my purchase a great experience.

I bught this wheels to ride them just for training and climbing sessions, but the stiffness, the lightness and the ride feeling, makes me use them always. I got a pair of Reynolds Strike SLG carbon that I thoght I will use for competitions but I reather my Tokyoweels. I just used them on a 70.3 Iron Man and worked great...

Wonderful set of wheels! A bit "twitchy" in crosswinds approaching 10mph but that's expected in such deep rimmed wheels. I expected them to be a bit heavier than my Mavic aluminum wheels but I was pleasantly surprised to find that they are significantly lighter as well as being much more aerodynamic....a win, win! They're also super stiff making them really quick off the starting line!

I ride these wheels daily, they have handled well in all situations, solidly built, and Sharp looking. Customer service is tops, felt comfortable through the whole process, and would definitely purchase From Tokyo wheel again.

The price is right and the quality is great. Just completed my first ironman 70.3 and this was my first hit out with the Tokyowheels I purchased. I can say with absolute confidence that these wheels are as good as major wheel brand ZIPP which I hired for my first Triathalon which was an Olympic distance race. I have only been involved in tris and riding for 12 months and with the7.10s I was able to comfortably maintain 32.4kph average for the 90km bike leg on a Blowy, Hilly course (Cairns ,Australia). I look forward to riding my next race with my 7.10s which will be an Olympic distance. Hopefully I'll improve on my average speed with the bike course being flat. I do regret getting black "EPIC" decals instead of white ones. Love em

Hello, I first want to say that customer service is excellent with this company, and the product is even better, the fit and finish is flawless. The wheels spin Smooth and hold speed very nice, I get a lot of compliments on how nice looking they are, and would definitely purchase From Tokyo Wheel again.

For the price paid, you can't go wrong with this wheelset. I rode them a whole week around Arizona: on flat road, on rolling terrain, climbing (Kitt Peak, Mount Lemmon). They performed well. The only reason I don't give a 5th star is their stability in low to medium wind gust. Other wheelsets performed better BUT cost at least double the price; hence the great ROI on these wheels. The upgrade for better hubs is worth the money.
